Outlines for your research paper: 10/21 blog

In ch.6, it basically starts off by explaining that by forming an outline it can aid you with your paper and help develop your argument.  It mentions that by using argumentative subheads that it can help you stay on task with your argument.  From reading this, I am going to go back and change some parts of my outline for my research paper to include these because I think this will definitely help me stay on track.  It talks about the use of transitions and how they will increase the flow of your paper from paragraph to paragraph.  I need to pay close attention to transitions for this paper, because for my last paper I struggled with them and ultimately lost at least several points due to lack of their effectiveness.
In the pages I read, it also gives some tips for using quotations.  It explains that we should only use them when needed for a rhetorical purpose, which would be to strengthen your argument.  By giving examples of the use of quotes in certain sentence types, it is definitely helpful to look at these examples to make sure that you can use quotes effectively in your paper.   To conclude my reading, the chapter discusses that through the use of peer review that it can enhance your paper by receiving opinions from another perspective, since we all view things differently.  It also mentions the need for having a passion to write your paper and how it will ultimately make your task easier.  We have done peer reviews in class and I think that they are a great thing.  My professor has also explained that we need to have an interest in what we are writing about in order to have a successful paper.
